This video showcases how kdFlex can be used to linearize a flexbile, multibody system and generate a state space model of said system. This can be done for any configuration, and is done here as the joints are articulated and damping is changed for the flexible bodies. The model used is a spacecraft with flexible arms (the links between the spacecraft bus and solar panels). The video shows a 3D view of the spacecraft on the left and on the right is a bode plot whose input is the torque applied on the right arm's pin joint and whose outputs are the location (3-vector) of the right solar panel. This is captured in real-time, it is not a series of screenshots rendered later. In real-time, as the sliders on the plot are moved, a linearized state-space model of the flexible spacecraft is generated, the bode plot is calculated, and the plot is updated along with the visualization on the left. The spacecraft bus is the Rosetta bus.
